The Role: We are seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to work out of our Brown Deer, WI office. The Electrical Controls Engineer will work with a project team to ensure that all electrical controls for the specific project scope are fulfilled. Additional duties will include electrical systems testing and field service commissioning as needed.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities :
Review and interpret project electrical schematics and specifications
Select electrical control components and prepare bill of material
Prepare complete submittal packages for review and approval by customer
Extensive and independent contact with customers, consultants, suppliers and colleagues as necessary to effectively perform project duties
Apply variable frequency drives to system
Perform system test at control panel shop
Perform project site commissioning (both domestically and internationally)
Troubleshoot electrical control problems over the phone
Obtain quotations from vendors
Travel to project sites, supplier's factories and technical conferences as necessary
Maintain a working knowledge of all process related products
Maintain a basic understanding of wastewater activated sludge processes
Assist with product research and development as required
Travel approximately 25% domestically and internationally
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline in addition to at least three (3) years of experience in project execution related to industrial automation.
Demonstrated ability to be a self- starter with minimal supervision. Field commissioning experience preferred.
Candidates must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel required.
In addition, qualified candidates must have a strong background in advanced Process Control Solutions including programming various types of logic controllers (e.g. A-B CompactLogix and Siemens), machine interfaces (e.g. Siemens and A-B PanelView Plus) and SCADA systems (e.g. A-B FactoryTalk and Indusoft).
