In this position you will work under limited supervision, develop and execute system test plans and strategies to assess product/solution functionality per customer requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design and write detailed test plans and execute testing on complex communications systems with assistance from lab support and software development engineers

  • Guide, define and effectively communicate test strategies

  • Effectively document identified defects and collaborate with engineers on characterization

  • Work in a lab environment and use test automation tools and lab test equipment, including protocol analyzers and a variety of test equipment related to telecommunication systems cellular test equipment

  • Plan, understand and execute platform configuration and setup

  • Define and create deliverables for training and system documentation

  • Travel to other LGS locations or customer sites as necessary

  • Understand and adhere to all LGS Ethical and Compliance policies

  • Proactively ensure a safe work environment and adhere to LGS EH&S policies and procedures

  • Perform other duties as required

  • Obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level necessary to perform the duties of the position


To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline and 6-8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Experience in software engineering and testing for communications systems, including some experience in technical leadership

  • Broad experience with the software engineering process from requirements reviews, code inspection to component delivery and sign-off

  • Testing experience on multiple hardware platforms utilizing either Linux or Unix-based operating systems

  • Additional knowledge of SIP, signaling, call processing, real-time operating systems, and hardware interface software (e.g. device drivers, low-level embedded SW)

  • Knowledge of Microsoft software applications and other software applications as required

  • Proven proficiency in problem analysis and experience with a wide range of platforms and customer applications

  • Demonstrated excellent teamwork skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Ability to work under limited supervision and flexibility to adapt to change

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Knowledge of IP telephony, signaling, and call processing.

  • Knowledge of IP networking and associated protocols.

  • Knowledge of LTE systems and LTE core network elements.

  • Knowledge of IMS systems and IMS core network elements.

  • Knowledge of software and network security.

  • Knowledge of vulnerability analysis

  • Knowledge or reverse engineering
