Systems Engineer I (WD30044774061)What you will doThe Systems Engineer I position is part of our Building Technologies &Solutions business at Johnson Controls. We are searching for a designengineer to design and lead major construction projects for our commercialHVAC/BAS Controls equipment and systems.How you will do itUnder general direction, responsible for the design, configuration, andoperation of complete building control systems including fire, security,and other low voltage control sub-systems (i.e. Lighting, nurse call,data networks, etc) to meet the intent of the project requirements.Accountable to field teams for quality, timeliness and efficiency ofdesigns. Develops complex software programs, commissioning andtroubleshooting to ensure proper operations of the building control system.Provides detailed information and submittals to communicate design andoperation to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls field installationteam aPRINCIPAL DUTIES:1. Designs and configures technically complex building control systems asdefined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence ofoperations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics asrequired.2. Develops and tests software programs necessary to operate the system perthe intent of the project requirements.3. Coordinates and creates of necessary drawings and equipment schedules forsubmittals and installation.4. Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assignedprojects. Coordinates factory-mounting processes to meet factory and projectschedule.5. Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-levelcontrollers as required. Assists in validation of complete systemfunctionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other tradesto ensure proper operation.6. Provides field change information to the project team for the creation ofas-built drawings and software.7. Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progressand issues.8. Assists in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on thetotal building control system.9. Participates in release meeting with project field team. Performs valueengineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customersatisfaction.10. May provide work direction to Systems Design Assistants.11. Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee andsubcontractor safety.QualificationsWhat we look forBachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. 6 years plusexperience within the construction or HVAC industry. Demonstrated knowledge ofcontrol theory, automatic temperature controls, building automationsystems and other building subsystems. Demonstrated experience in theintegration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industryprotocols (i.e. LON, BacNet, etc). Ability to relate technicalknowledge to a non-technical audience.
