Schneider Electric Senior Engineer m/f as System Architect for Functional Safety in Marktheidenfeld, Germany

As a System Architect m/f for Functional Safety you are creating safety architectures for our automation platforms and safety solutions. With our safety chain solution, we are enabling our customers to fulfill the functional safety requirements for simple machines up to highly complex dynamical machines. You will be involved in the entire development process starting from concept phase up to production of the certified safety products. Functional safety is a rapidly growing segment in industry and forms an essential component of our automation technology. This position can be located in one of our development sites either in 97828 Marktheidenfeld or 77933 Lahr in Germany, alternatively in Singapore.

Your field of work - diverse

  • Design safety relevant architecture for hardware and software components following functional safety standards (e.g. IEC61508)

  • Design flexible and scalable products and solutions considering quality and cost targets

  • Work closely with the Marketing team for the specification of safety products and solutions

  • Perform system analyses (e.g. FMEA, FMEDA and risk analyses)

  • Support the R&D; teams during the safety review processes for software and hardware components

  • Collaborate with external certification bodies (e.g. TÜV)

  • Follow technology trends, apply the latest technologies and provide knowledge transfer

Your profile - qualified

  • Studies of electrical engineering, automation technology or computer science

  • Several years of experience in R&D;, ideally in industrial automation technology, with PLCs, HMIs and I/O systems

  • Capable to design safety architectures for software and hardware and experience in cyber security

  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g. IEC61508, ISO13849, IEC62061)

  • Understanding of R&D; processes (requirements, system architecture, design, specification, implementation, verification and documentation)

  • Know-how in fieldbuses, networks and programming in IEC61131

  • You have a very good command of English and enjoy working in an international and multicultural environment
