Junior Electrical Engineer
Location: Rochester, NY, partial remote work allowed
Pay: 30-40/hr. w-2
BS in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (1+ if Master) designing, developing and verifying circuits for radio communication systems (RF), preferable in the 3002500 MHz band.
Our client is looking for Engineers with experience in the development, verification and integration of electronic systems for radio communications. The position is to work in the Rochester, NY area.
The candidate will be supporting the development of RF hardware for a new, next generation tactical radio product. This individual will be a member of a cross functional development team that is responsible for the RF hardware development from the definition of requirements through the integration and testing of the completed product. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability work within a large engineering team are required.
Specific responsibilities include:
Support the design, development, modification and evaluating electronic parts, components or circuitry for RF/Analog hardware systems of a software defined radio systems
Assist in the analysis of the electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
Supports detailed design of RF circuitry, including generating schematics
Supports radio integration with other subsystems including Digital, FPGA, DSP and embedded firmware
Support subsystem and radio level verification and validation testing using formal techniques
Performs RF/Analog engineering design tasks, detailed experimental testing, operational test and fault isolation on radio systems and equipment. Evaluates results to assist in development or problem resolution
Identify, track and resolve assigned hardware defects through board level functional analysis followed by design updates and/or board repair
BSEE or equivalent with 2+ years of experience (1+ if Masters) in Electrical circuit design
Experience in frequency bands from 300 MHz to 3500 MHz
Good troubleshooting skills and knowledge of radio lab equipment
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Highly motivated, self-starter, who works well in team environments.
Exposure to test scripting programming languages such as LabView, Python and Matlab is a plus.
Desirable / other skills:
Experience in circuit simulation (e.g. Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS, Keysight EMPro, Keysight Genesys) is a big plus.
Experience in bands up to 8000 MHz is a plus
Organized and detail oriented
Team-player, quick learner, proactive with a positive attitude
Must be able to work in cross-functional team environment of varying disciplines
US Citizen preferable. Security clearance (active or past) is a plus
Communications. RF circuitry design and verification.
The position is to work on site at customer facilities either in Rochester NY. Remote work might be possible.
