(HATCI)'s Regulatory and Certification department is currently seeking an Vehicle Environmental Regulatory Engineer at our Superior Township, MI facility just east of Ann ArborHATCI's Regulation and Certification department ensure that Hyundai and Kia vehicles meet changing safety, environmental, and emissions standards at the federal, state, and local levels. Regulatory and Certification professionals Research analyze future regulatory trends to recommend internal action; guide the direction of company research, develop policy position for public positions; certify our vehicles to emissions and safety standards and addressing issues related to these standards and communicate with agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and U.S. Customs.•Follow Federal and State regulatory emissions and environmental activities and provide related analysis, comments, and guidance to Hyundai Motor Group affiliates.•Monitor upcoming Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Air Resources Board (CARB), and other agencies' environmental (e.g. emissions, chemical (TSCA), fuels, etc.) research and regulatory initiatives through participation in industry and government meetings and committees, as well as through frequent contact with government representatives, other companies, and trade associations.•Prepare corporate positions and written comments in response to regulatory actions by gathering and coordinating input from RD and affiliated companies.•Prepare reports on an ongoing basis addressing upcoming regulations and summaries of published regulatory actions with recommendations for action.•Keep abreast of and distribute information on environmental trends, technologies and upcoming requirements to related RD staff through meetings, presentations, and other media on a regular basis.•Provide guidance to RD on the appropriate action in response to regulatory initiatives.•Respond to government inquiries relating to future environmental regulatory requirements.•Provide interpretations on recently published proposals or regulations.•Serve as the corporate representative on the Environment Energy/Service subcommittee of our industry trade association, Global Automakers.•Coordinate with the research assistant and the technical writer in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and yearly summaries of environmental activity.•Create and present technical reports as assigned.•Coordinate with Canadian or European counterparts as necessary.•Perform administrative functions such as purchasing requests, timecard, vacation requests, travel requests, etc.•Perform additional projects as assigned.•Travel up to 30% of time domestically and internationally.
