Researches, prioritizes, and specifies system and product requirements for new feature capabilities. May work directly with customers to architect and/or develop ARRIS products for specific applications. May involve networking research and development of prototypes for demonstrations or proof-of-concepts. Primary Duties and Responsibilities - Assist in generation of concept proposals for new products - Serve as Technical Lead for the technical definition of complex product features - Investigate and develop components and products - Provide technical direction for such projects - Write and maintain functional specifications for new product features and work with engineering teams to understand and implement to specifications - Design and document use cases, requirements, functional specifications, algorithms, software, and hardware for advanced broadband services - Independently resolve technical problems, initiating design changes and providing engineering support as per project task needs - Assist with the creation of product demonstrations - Coordinatewith other project disciplines to ensure project objectives are being met - Conduct quantitative studies on research projects, which will justify technological and architectural strategies employed in new product development - Manage risk of new technologies and strategies used - Serve as a technical mentor to other members of the engineering staff - Serve on industry specification teams as necessary BSEE, BSCE, BSCS (Masters Degree desired) - 10 Years of Telecommunications Systems experience Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Effective communicator in both verbal and written form - Effective Teammate - In-depth knowledge of communication systems in a real-time embedded development environment OR in application development. - Extensive experience with industry standard protocols and SW technologies in the telecommunications field either in systems development or in network management/application development - Ability to interface with and assist other functional teams (hardware, test, etc) during the development process required - Working knowledge of 4 or more of the following technology areas: - TCP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6, Routing, and Ethernet switching technology - Familiarity with programmable networking concepts and methodologies - SNMP, XML, NetConf, RestConf, YANG Employer's Job# 18000497_Suwanee Please visit job URL for more information about this opening and to view EOE statement.
