As a Build and Release Engineer, you will release updates and changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our AV software. You will collaborate with other engineers to ensure our services and products seamlessly move from development through rollout and into production. This requires the ability to engineer repeatable, reliable software and processes. You will help develop and contribute to major improvements to tools and processes.


  • Gather, track, and supply tools for developing and building software in order to reliably reproduce and/or maintain it;

  • Collaborate across teams, understanding the needs of other engineers to enhance and accelerate development and infrastructure teams;

  • Develop and maintain productivity tools for the company to increase velocity;

  • Study, understand, and communicate necessary technology that is used or being considered for the company;

  • Assist engineers in troubleshooting issues with the build system;

  • Manage and deploy build systems and servers with Linux;

  • Invent, extend, design and develop next-generation features for self-driving car applications; and

  • Improve and deliver reliable software through continuous integration, automated testing and code reviews.


  • BS/MS in Computer Science Engineering or 4 years experience in lieu of degree;

  • Experience with compiled languages such as C++ or Go;

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python;

  • Exposure to a variety of build systems;

  • Eagerness to learn and explore new technologies;

  • Ability to write clean, fast, reliable and highly scalable code;

  • Working experience in an environment that develops a complex multithreaded product;

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;

  • Quick problem-solving abilities; and

  • Unit test everything, but know when to ask our stellar tools team for scripts or tools.
