Leidos Systems Architect/Lead Engineer in WASHINGTON, District Of Columbia


Leidos is looking for a System Architect/Lead Engineer with strong systems, software, cloud, and Agile experience to support a complex program to provide Agile development and operations and maintenance for a critical customer. The ideal candidate will be able to couple proven systems engineering and software development techniques to accentuate Leidos’ capabilities in homeland security arenas. Candidate will utilize his/her expertise in solutioning, product management, and systems/software engineering to provide oversight, guidance, and other related duties in one or more phases of software systems development, systems integration, or system sustainment. Position requires US citizenship and candidate must have the ability of obtaining a Public Trust clearance, at minimum. Responsibilities include:

• Independently apply a wide set of engineering disciplines for planning, design, analysis, coding, testing, roll-out and support of information systems architectures

• Design interface, quality assurance, and performance standards, and perform cost-benefit analysis of modem state-of-the art information systems

• Analyze available technologies and make recommendations of technologies to use and how best to use them

• Assess and capture metrics related to Agile software development practices

• Provide technical support from concept and design through development and integration onto deployment and sustainment of large complex software systems

• Meet or exceed all contract and corporate commitments



• Bachelor’s Degree in an IT discipline

• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in design, analysis, and implementation of information systems architecture

• U.S. Citizen

• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance, at minimum

• Understanding of software processes and methodologies and ability to speak intelligently about them and leverage other techniques to provide value to a team/enterprise

• Understanding of metrics, including backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition

• Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices

• Proficiency with Agile management tools such as the Atlassian suite (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)

• Experience with system requirements management, including requirements gathering and decomposition; product backlog management; high-level software system design; test management

• Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) or SAFe Agilist (SA) certification

• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including experience in presenting material to senior Government officials and communicating and coordinating with other Government contractors and industry


• Experience supporting Agile projects for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

• Advanced systems architecture in a cloud computing environment

• Master’s Degree in related field of management or information systems.

• PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)

• Expertise with DevOps frameworks.
